According to Dmytro Zabavin, a deputy of the Mariupol City Council
In memory of those who fell and for the good of those who survived, we initiated a charity project. We want to capture a moment and emotions of the city before the full-scale invasion in the form of an itinerary – an itinerary of remembrance.
The itinerary includes location coordinates, photo and video content of places that used to bring bright memories for its citizens and tourists.
Make a donation. After donating you will get access to a detailed and structured itinerary of a trip to Mariupol that Pavlo managed to take a few months before the full-scale invasion.
100% of the funds from the donation will be directed to I am Mariupol — a support center network for Mariupol internally displaced persons throughout Ukraine. The goal is to support people who survived the horrors of the blockade and occupation of Mariupol.
A city by the sea... a big industrial city. A city that I could theoretically move to if I had visited earlier. But no... It so happened that for the first time, I reached this fantastic city only six months before the tragedy, which still hasn’t finished. The city is lying in ruins and under occupation for the second year.
Yes, this is the City of Mary, our Mariupol. For a long time, I could not find the right words to begin this story.
The story will be not only about the tragedy, but also about the pleasant and exciting moments and memories Mariupol gave us. The story will be about my impressions: sunny, industrial and modern, a city where I saw the most unusual beach! As usual, I will describe every day, talk about the locations I saw, and discuss some historical facts. I want to dedicate this itinerary to the people of Mariupol, those who escaped or those still waiting for Ukraine inside the destroyed city.
I hope that the material you’re about to see and read will evoke pleasant memories if you have been to Mariupol, or at least make you fall in love with this city a little if you have not been there. And yes, I understand that only memories and debris remain from our route, but I believe the city will be liberated, revived and even better than before the full-scale war!
